[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/FTi6Uc5m09s” align=”center”][vc_column_text]BE BOLD started as a discussion about the preteen years being a time kids often choose to either \u201cown\u201d or \u201creject\u201d Christian faith. A recent study by The Fuller Youth Institute revealed that over 70% of churchgoing teens have serious doubts about faith<\/strong>, but, as Christianity Today reports, exploring their doubts was correlated with a stronger faith.<\/p>\n

So doubt isn’t toxic. Silence is.<\/p>\n

Knowing this, how can the church support preteens? They are starting to reason and think independently\u2014it’s an an age when hard faith questions surface.<\/p>\n

So, we pulled together groups of preteens to do our own research.\u00a0We provided a few broad faith topics and asked what questions they had. We were blown away! Their questions kept coming and coming! For 45 minutes they kept coming\u2014faster than we could write.<\/p>\n

Finally, after 45 minutes, one exasperated girl (Addy) asked, \u201cWhy can\u2019t we ask these questions at church? Why can\u2019t someone just help me understand?\u201d<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t have a good answer for her\u2026just a lump in our throats.<\/p>\n

The experience had a big impact on us.\u00a0It confirmed our belief that preteens need a safe place to explore hard questions about God and faith. It became our mission to create a preteen curriculum to meet Addy\u2019s cry.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not okay if preteens aren\u2019t able to explore and discuss their tough faith questions at church.\u00a0If not at church, where else can they go? It\u2019s true that some faith questions don\u2019t have clear and straightforward answers, but we know it is critical to help them explore Scripture to see what the Bible DOES have to say.<\/p>\n

One thing is clear, preteens\u2019 QUESTIONS will not go away\u2026but THEY may go away if their questions are ignored.<\/p>\n
