And they had some doozies! They had some questions that theologians have been feuding over for 2,000 years. They had some questions no one disagrees about because\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">no one\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">really knows what to believe!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Part of being bold means not shying away from these tough questions. And sometimes, that means the lesson doesn\u2019t wrap up an answer in a shiny package with a bright red bow.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">But that\u2019s a good thing! When we\u2019re willing to address the questions we can\u2019t answer, we show that questions and faith aren\u2019t opposites. You can have questions\u2014even unanswered questions\u2014and still have a strong faith. That\u2019s a really powerful message for preteens (and you!) to walk away with. Because they\u2019re going to have more questions than you can tackle in two years, and it\u2019s great for them to know those questions don\u2019t have to derail their faith.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">So here\u2019s what you can do:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ground Preteens in Truth<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Every lesson of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"http:\/\/group.com\/bebold\">BE BOLD<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0focuses on one of nine Bold Bible Truths. These truths are repeated over\u2026and over\u2026and over\u2026because we want preteens to know that<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0although there are some\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">murky<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0theological issues, there are\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">solid truths we can all agree on. And if you\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">really<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0believe those truths, you don\u2019t feel so much like you\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">need\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to know why bad things happen to good people.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Make sure kids walk away with these truths. They\u2019re written on each week\u2019s student page, and you can keep referring to them through the lesson.\u00a0 You can say, \u201cWe don\u2019t know why<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0____<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">but what we\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">do\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">know is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">_____<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Here\u2019s an example: Do pets go to heaven when they die? It\u2019s not a simple answer. Some people believe they do,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">some believe they don\u2019t. Both have Scripturally-based arguments (which we examine from\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">both sides in the lesson). Your preteens would probably love for you to say, \u201c<span class=\"TextRun SCXW82324760 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXW82324760 BCX0\">Golosshins<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW82324760 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW82324760 BCX0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">52:7 says, \u2018Fido is definitely in heaven.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0But that\u2019s not a real Bible book, and you can\u2019t say that.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What you can promise kids is that God is in charge, so his plan for your pets is good.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Stick to Scripture<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There\u2019s a\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reason theologians<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0don\u2019t all agree on every issue\u2026sometimes the Bible is a little confusing! Sometimes there are two verses that seem to conflict with one another. We know God is perfect and the Bible is true, so we know somehow beyond our human brains, there must be a right answer. But for now, we have to do the best we can to interpret the Bible.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">That\u2019s a\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">great<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0skill for preteens to build! So when we have a theologically<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">charged question, we just turn to Scripture. We might say, \u201cYou know, the Bible doesn\u2019t have a clear answer on that. But let\u2019s see what it\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">does\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">say.\u201d Or we might say, \u201cSome people think, based on these verses, pets go to heaven. Others think that\u2026\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Don\u2019t be worried about planting the idea in your kids\u2019 minds that the Bible is a living book of contradictions. (Remember, one of our Bold Bible Truths is that the Bible is true!) Be excited about boldly teaching them how to dive into Scripture and grapple with what it really means.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">So, resist the temptation to answer every question with a pat answer. Let kids wrestle with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Scripture, and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0ground them in what we all know is true. Let them see it\u2019s possible to have questions and still have a strong faith.
