Church volunteers need ALL these things, don\u2019t they? Sometimes it\u2019s hard to know who needs what and when! \u00a0As a leader of volunteers, one of our main responsibilities\u2014even beyond these things\u2014is to encourage those serving alongside us. The question is, how can we lift up these important members of our ministry team?<\/p>\n
We may hold a volunteer recognition banquet, hand out certificates of volunteer appreciation, give gifts or cards\u2026but one thing we may not think about is sending volunteer appreciation letters.<\/p>\n
Maybe you are thinking\u2026I\u2019m not a writer! I wouldn\u2019t know where to start. Or perhaps you wonder if it would really mean anything to a volunteer. I\u2019m here to tell you: it will!<\/p>\n
Imagine finding this in your mailbox or inbox\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Dear Church Volunteer,<\/p>\n When your actions are questioned, don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When you are unfairly attacked, don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When you make mistakes and can\u2019t seem to get anything right, don\u2019t give up.<\/strong><\/p>\n When the schedule is unbearable, and you\u2019re not sure you can take one more step, don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When you feel as if you can\u2019t do anything to please anyone, don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When it seems as if the only person who likes you is your spouse, (and even they waver at times) don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When you\u2019ve just been betrayed by your best friend who you thought would never leave your side, don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When there are so many demands on you that you don\u2019t think you can stand under the weight, don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n When the air is thick and the clouds are dense and you can\u2019t see far enough ahead of you to know if you are going in the right direction, don\u2019t give up.<\/strong><\/p>\n Just take your next step. Do the next thing. Don\u2019t try to figure out next week or next year; just put one foot in front of the other and concentrate on your next step.
