Is getting time with your volunteers challenging? Have you considered doing a virtual touch base rather than requiring a face-to-face meeting?
On-site meetings often require child care, coordination around meals, room preparation, and more. A virtual meeting, though, requires only coordination of time–and a click. Using video conferencing technology like Zoom.us or Google Hangouts allows you to meet, interact with, and coach your volunteers from wherever you might be to wherever they might be.
In my experience, video conferencing maintains the personal touch while also minimizing the complications of coordination and various time commitments. As you coordinate these meetings remember: they don’t need to be long. A simple touch base to review the past Sunday’s experience and talk through the coming weekend is usually enough.
Give virtual coaching a try this week and see how your volunteers respond.
