Choose three words to describe a week of VBS.
It’s likely that one of your words is something like wild, loud, chaotic, crazy, exciting. Yep, we do VBS. We get it. It’s true.
That’s because kids are pretty wild! They’re noisy, funny, silly, energetic, and enthusiastic. (Come on, isn’t that really what you love about them?)
But have you ever considered that life is wild for kids? Their lives are unpredictable, filled with ups and downs, drops and dips, twists and turns, and loop-the-loops. Life can feel chaotic and crazy, out-of-control and uncertain.
Life is wild because relationships change. Life is wild because parents divorce. Life is wild because people get sick…and sometimes die. Life is wild because the news can be scary. Life is wild because kids have to move, change schools, adapt, learn, and grow.
As adults, we’ve come to expect the unexpected. But kids are still learning to process all the changes that life can throw at us. Those are changes that can make them feel like God is distant…or maybe doesn’t really care. Yet in the midst of all the confusion…God is good. God is always, always good.
“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.” (Nahum 1:7)
Roar VBS is intentionally-designed to give kids the solid foundation of God’s goodness—something they can stand on, cling to, hold, and remember when the wild side of life doesn’t feel so fun or adventurous. Our prayer is that every child who experiences a week of Roar VBS is empowered to boldly face life’s challenges. And you’ll have the chance to guide kids in deepening their friendship with a mighty, loving, and good, good God.
So, get ready for a wild week full of noise, excitement, craziness, and kid-friendly fun. And a week that will give kids the chance to roar about a God who loves them wildly!
